Welcome to the FindMyEmbassy web application. This tool will allow you to quickly and accurately find the embassy nearest to you.

The application also allows you to quickly call the emergency services such as the police, ambulance or fire brigade in order for you to stay safe when traveling abroad. The tool is a must-have for any seasoned traveler, tourist or expat because you have your embassy and emergency services at your finger tips.

How does it work?

The first item of importance is of which country you are a citizen. It makes no sense to show you embassies that you have no use for. this is why the application only shows you embassies that apply for your particular type of citizenship.

Secondly the application will try to find out where you are at the moment. It will crossreference your citizen status with the list of embassies and your current location. If you are in a country that has an embassy applicable to you, it will automatically show you that particular embassy information. However, you can override your current location by using the country picker at the bottom of the screen.

Inspiration

The inpiration for this application comes from personal experience and frustration while traveling. Sometimes it happens that you find yourself in a sticky or even dangerous situation. It can be an accident, something stolen or you are being robbed. Whichever it may be, it could come in handy to have the emergency services closeby.

In case of corruption, which alas is quite common, it can help you that you can immediately show them that you have your embassy on speed dial. Let them know that you are already in the position to get help as quickly as humanly possible.
